The Project Controls Lead is an integral part of growth strategy and you will have the opportunity to:
• Use your technical engineering proficiency and years of experience to provide hands on project planning and costing expertise, advice and support to your Project Controls Team for the Horizon Oil Sands plant expansion
• Identify project schedule and budget trends through a comprehensive project controls system
• Support the development and maintenance of cost reporting and forecasting systems to ensure project estimates and budgets remain current and change management supports project objectives
This role will require extensive travel to the Horizon Oil Sands project site throughout the constructions phases of the project
LEADERSHIP:
• Utilize your previous hands on leadership experience to lead a team of Project Control professionals, ensuring project costs and schedules are effectively managed through the various engineering, procurement and construction phases of the project
• Provide capacity and insight for directing the Owner Project Controls team and guiding all project controls activities to support Construction Management on site
• Manage a project controls group responsible for cost, scheduling, estimating, quantity surveying and reporting by demonstrating your previous working experience in those areas

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to provide necessary project controls support and expert advice to enable focus and drive to meet project objectives
• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the project master schedule, plant master schedules, and various area coordination schedules for the project including commissioning and start-up
• Provide leadership of progress reporting, earned value analysis, performance factor calculation and establishment of construction logic, including analysis of schedule, progress and manpower data and provide recommendations for corrective action
• Monitor, review and analyze the schedule and status of contractors during all phases of the project
• Forecast completion costs based on trends including productivity measurements, labor rate analysis, commitments, change management, schedule impacts and material cost variance
• Update, maintain and analyze project commitments, cost flow, and expenditures while also supporting, monitoring, reviewing and analyzing the cost, schedule and associated reporting
• Review, assess and analyze contractor progress and performance during engineering, procurement and construction through to the commissioning phase of the project

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 10+ years experience working with major projects in an oil sands or mining environment with completion of Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma
• Demonstrated construction planning experience on a construction site with proven working experience in cost, scheduling, estimating, quantity surveying, and reporting areas
• Experience in a similar hands on supervisory and leadership role within a Project Controls team
• Proficiency in industry specific applications (ie. Primavera P3ec, Prism) and in the MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
