Senior Tender Planner – Surrey

 

A Senior Tender Planning Engineer is required by a leading main contractor business based in Surrey – on offer is a basic salary of between £45-55,000 per annum plus a benefits package comprising of car / car allowance, pension, healthcare, medical cover etc.

           

Reporting to the Planning Manager you will be responsible for the preparation of resource and cost loaded tender programmes and methodology statements and assisting the estimators in the review of project durations and prelims items.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • To prepare robust tender programmes for bid submissions, appropriately resourced to provide comparison of Labour and Plant requirements with those included in the estimator’s rates.
  • To prepare robust and efficient project methodologies, based on current best practice and innovative solutions.
  • To proactively and promptly identify temporary works requirements and engage Engineering Manager Rail expertise as appropriate.
  • To ensure that subcontractors submitted tender programmes are fully inclusive and take due cognisance of the tender programme and construction phasing and constraints.
  • To establish and develop high quality value added relationships with subcontractors and specialists.
  • Identify and highlight project risks and contribute to the tender risk and opportunities register.
  • Prepare supporting information and attend mid bid and post tender client meetings as directed.
  • Prepare detailed briefing and reference information for handover to operational team on contract award.
  • Provide continuity in project programme, methodology and project constraints to the operational team during the early stages of project implementation.
  • Maintain close liaison with operational teams on live contracts. Maintain awareness of current best practice and capture feedback of tender stage programmes and methodology and incorporate learning into new tenders. 

 

To be considered for this opportunity candidates will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

 

  • 5 to 10 years relevant planning experience in Railway environment.
  • Site experience gained on station building & platform works, bridgeworks and earthworks.
  • Competent use of current programming software, preferably Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and outputs
  • Effective communication
  • Commercial awareness
  • Contractual awareness
