Senior Planning Engineer - Perth
My client is a global EPCM organization that employs circa 10,000 people for their operations worldwide within specialist sectors including mining, minerals, infrastructure, transportation and energy sectors. Due to increasing workloads they are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Planning Engineer to join their team based in Perth to support one of their major clients.
The Senior Planner will be responsible for preparing and maintaining construction activity plans and schedules in order to drive the project master schedule. The role will also provide general planning experience. The Senior Planning Engineer will be required to work on a rotational / FIFO basis 10 days on and 4 days off. On offer is an attractive salary plus package and a 25% uplift on salary when working on FIFO basis.
Responsibilities
- Plans and schedules construction activities in collaboration with Construction Management, with emphasis on master schedule;
- Reviews material and progress reports, providing assessments of status, resource requirements, shortfalls and work around plans;
- Ensures that appropriate planning techniques and scheduling systems meet construction needs;
- Interfaces with engineering and procurement on the status of design deliverables and materials required to support the Construction schedule and modifies the schedule to accommodate changes to the original plan basis;
- Assists the Project Controls Manager in communications with Engineering, Procurement and Construction on schedule requirements, progress trends, scope changes and reporting requirements;
- Liaises with Construction Engineering, Supervision, Material Control and Project Controls for input to update Construction progress, as well as to identify and disclose issues which could impact on construction execution;
- Prepares special activity subset schedules that may be needed to control a special work function;
- Prepares regular status reports and forecasts for the Construction Manager;
- Develops and monitors the project construction schedule and evaluates all changes against overall project schedule;
- Reviews material and progress reports, providing assessments of status of resource requirements, shortfalls and work around plans;
- Analyses production trends and develops manpower loading curves
- Candidate Experience
- Experience with Primavera software in a project planning environment;
- A relevant engineering degree qualification.
- Experience gained from the resources development, processing plant construction, mining and minerals handling or oil and gas industries;
- Major project experience within an EPCM environment is essential.
- Strong communication skills
