Planning Manager
Business Function: Gas
Location: Worsley
Role Purpose:
- Develop and moniter the annual programme of works to deliver the gas mains policy replacement contract.
- Lead multi-discpline planning team to provide effective solutions and deliver construction documentation on time.
- Take responsibility for the technicial compliance, quality and appropriateness of designs and documents produced.
Key Accountabilities:
Ensure planning work is correct and meets client/customer specifications and develop the programme of works to meet the HSE policy replacement target.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development of the annual programme of works in accordance with resources available and geographical location.
- Moniter the programme in terms of risk, time, cost, issues and liaise with Operations to enable effective delivery.
- Identify and track deferral of seed pipes and slippage projects to ensure completion in subsequent years.
- Facilitate with Commercial and Operations in relation to work in progress to ensure project closure.
- Leadership and management of a multi-discipline Planning Team which includes Network Planners, Temporary Works Coordinators and Project Initiation Staff.
- Manage the development and delivery of the planning process to remove preliminary risk and improve efficiency.
- Take ownership and accountability to ensure the Planning team delivers quality construction documentation.
- To ensure the designs are the safest, most effective and deliverable solutions in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
- To ensure all outputs are in accordance with current National Grid Management Procedures, Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, documented business processes, quality management systems and best practice.
- Manage the change control process to ensure project scope, cost and time objectives are evaluated and approved or rejected.
- Liaison with Alliance Management Team (AMT), Construction Operation Engineers (COEs) and departmental managers concerning project issues, scope changes, risks and costs.
- Promote a safety culture within the team in line with National Grid's golden rules and Balfour Beatty Zero Harm.
- Undertake personal development reviews with all staff.

Skills Required:
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline.
- Proven utility industry background.
- Construction planning and programming experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Full, clean driving licence.
