Heysham 2 Power Station is based south of Morecambe, Lancashire. It is one of our advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) power stations and is capable of generating 1250MW of electricity, the equivalent of supplying 1.5 million homes.
Applications are invited for the position of Outage Planner within the Strategic Outage Department at Heysham 2 Power Station.
Working as part of the Outage Group, you will be responsible for planning and co-ordinating maintenance, operational and plant improvement activities during the major outage shutdowns and any interim forced shutdowns. You will ensure that the plan maintains operational plant safety margins whilst facilitating efficient and effective work execution. During the shutdown you will ensure all planned work is performed to time whilst dealing with emergent work in such a way as to minimise its impact on safety and programme.
An excellent understanding of work planning principles and processes is required and you should have good plant operational knowledge, with practical experience in the areas of planning, maintenance or operational activities. Applicants should be ideally experienced in the use of Primavera P3e or have a high degree of computer literacy.
You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, drive and the ability to manage change. Supported by excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you must be self motivated, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Attention to detail is vitally important and experience of techniques for human error reduction is desirable.
As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Engineering or Science, however a university degree is preferable. Also, relevant experience in Operations, Work Management or Maintenance is a requirement of the role.
The salary range for this role is between £26,430 and £57,029, however, the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of£26,430 to £48,077 dependent on the successful candidate’s existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate may be required by the company to undertake a role in the emergency scheme. This may necessitate the individual being on a standby rota. Appropriate payments in accordance with the Company Agreement would be made in the event that this is required.
