Whether it’s a windfarm or a nuclear power station, the work will be co-ordinated between multiple delivery units, sharing critical paths.
We have a number of National Planning Manager roles whose purpose is to lead the implementation of programme planning and project controls. To support the development and delivery of a consistent approach, to portfolio and programme manage across the whole of UK construction, working to drive efficiency and grow our capability long term.
You will be identifying potential risks, reducing scheduling and related conflicts and supporting the manager in setting and achieving or overall strategic business initiatives and objectives.
As a National planning Manager you will take on one of the following roles:
National Project Co-ordination Manager
In this role you’ll focus on projects in delivery and will include the identification and subsequent co-ordination of work on the critical path while maximising productivity and resource utilisation to ensure cost effective performance while enhancing our profile as a centre of excellence.
Your remit will include leading the development and implementation of a suite of incentives to ensure delivery in an efficient and effective way. You will also carry out risk analysis and ensure compliance with best practice methodologies. Establishing robust reporting processes and enhancing our profile as a centre of excellence will be a vital part of the role.
Programme Build Manager
As a Programme Build Manager you will work closely with Investment Leaders to shape delivery timescales for projects in the inception phase. Ideally you will have a good understanding of the different types of projects which make up National Grid’s capital plan and be able to develop a strong network of contacts across the business. This role balances long term outage planning, investment drivers, customer needs, resources, procurement and consent constraints. You will own and champion templates for long term planning.
Programme Regional Optimisation Manager
Your remit will be to carry out scenario planning on a regional basis of projects which are in development but not yet sanctioned for delivery. Working closely with customer services, you will take a regular view of volatile customer driven schemes and then work closely with asset management to identify asset replacement work to make up the delivery unit workload. You will forge close relationships with all delivery units, land and development, outage planning teams and procurement.
For all roles ideally you’ll be qualified to degree level, have a demonstratable track record with people as well as technical and business management, preferably gained in an Electricity Transmission environment. Your proven project management and planning ability will mean you can identify potential risks, apply earned value techniques and challenge monthly reports. We’d also welcome knowledge of primavera techniques.
