Senior Planning Engineer – Saudi
Rabigh Power Station.
The Project
PB are working as Owners Engineer for Saudi Electric Company – Western Operating Areas (SEC) on the extension to their existing Rabigh Power Station some 150 km to the north of the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project will include the construction of four new conventional oil fired thermal generating units, each with a nominal rating of 600MWe, giving a total electrical output from the plant of approximately 2400MWe. This project represents the sixth phase of the Rabigh Power plant which already consists of six oil fired conventional thermal units, 15 combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units & 16 simple cycle gas turbine (SCGT) units.
Role Duties
To assist the client and internal engineering departments in all aspects of project management.
To prepare critical path network plans for activities on the project. Activities undertaken by these plans should be subsequently monitored against the plan and deviations should be identified to the appropriate Project Manager.
To analyse the programmes prepared by various contractors ensuring that activities contained therein comply with client requirements with emphasis on Critical Path Reporting and to forecast program risk events.
Where appropriate, to coordinate the activities of the various contractors involved in the project, ensuring that the interfaces between various organizations are identified and scheduled.
Where contractor activity is at variance with the programme, to identify appropriate remedial action to bring activity in line with the programme.
To operate the project management software (Primavera Suretrak, P3, P6 and MS Project) utilized by the Project Management Services Group within the Generation Division.
To prepare detailed and comprehensive project reports giving information regarding the status of activities undertaken by the contractors and the consultant.
To analyse contractors claims and report/advise accordingly.
