Role Overview

The Planning Claims Analyst plays a key role in supporting the assessment, preparation, and defence of construction claims. Working closely with project teams, legal advisors, and senior planners, this role combines strong planning expertise with analytical rigour to evaluate delays, disruptions, and entitlement under contract conditions. The position is ideal for someone with a solid planning background who is looking to develop deeper expertise in claims and forensic schedule analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and maintain project schedules to support claims preparation and defence.
  • Analyse programme delays, disruptions, and changes using recognised forensic methodologies.
  • Assist in the preparation of extension‑of‑time submissions, delay narratives, and supporting evidence.
  • Gather, validate, and interpret project records, progress data, and contemporaneous documentation.
  • Support senior consultants in the preparation of expert reports and claim documentation.
  • Work with project stakeholders to understand project history, issues, and contractual context.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and scenario modelling related to delay and disruption.
  • Present findings clearly through written reports, visual timelines, and schedule analysis outputs.

Candidate Profile

  • Background in project planning, scheduling, or project controls within construction or engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project lifecycles.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interpret contract requirements (NEC, JCT, FIDIC experience beneficial).
  • Proactive, organised, and comfortable working with multiple data sources.
  • Interest in developing specialist expertise in delay analysis and claims.
