Hello friends,

I am working on P6 V6.1 and i have done my scheduling process.

The problem is i have assigned relatiionship FS from X activity to Y activity.

Now when i schedule the project with Data date as Z.

The Y activity starts from the Z date eventhough the finish date of X is different.

Hope u understand my issue.

Kindly guide me to solve this problem.

Sivaganesh,

This is how the data date is meant to work.

You should set the data date to the latest date for which you have a complete set  of progress information.

If an activity has started or finished, you should check the "started" or "finished" boxes in the Status tab of the activity details screen, and enter the correct start/finish date.

If you do not do this, Primavera does not know the activity has begun. Any activities that have not begun must by definition get moved to start on or after the new data date.

Hi Gary,

thanks for your explanation. but stil am in little confusion.

I wil explain in an example

Proj start date - 12 may 2012

activity 1 - 20 may 2012

activity 2 - 10 sep 2012

proj end date - 10 oct 2012

now if i press F9 and give the 'Data Date' as 10-sep-2012,

then total schedule changes as

Proj start date - 10 sep 2012

activity 1 - 18 sep 2012

activity 2 - 09 jan 13

proj end date - 08 feb 13.

This is the problem. please guide me.

Sivaganesh

Is the finish date of X earlier than the Data Date of Z?

If so, mark activity Y as "started" in the "Status" tab, and set the correct start date there. (assuming it has actually started. If it has not yet started, then obviously the earliest date it could possibly start would be the data date)

If not, check for constraints, lags, or other predecessors which may be driving the start date.
