Remaining Late Cost In Past months after Re-Baseline

All,

I have just rebaselined my project based on a data date of 13th June, however, much of the remaining late cost has been moved in my report to December of the previous year.

There is no negative float on these activities and all early and late dates are fine on the actvity.

The only thing I notice is that the remainiing late start on the resource is December of the previous year.

Can anyone advise me of where this date is being driven from and how to remedy.

Thanks

Arend, This helps explain whats going on. I ended up removing the resource and adding another which fixed the problem, fits in with what you have written and what we had originally thought (that there was insufficient resource to perform the task on schedule)

Thanks again

Paul

Hi Paul,

I found this information for you, I hope it is of help.

Late Start
The latest possible date the remaining work for the activity must begin without delaying the project finish date. This date is calculated by the project scheduler based on activity relationships, schedule constraints, and resource availability.

When you use leveling: If you clear the Preserve Scheduled Early and Late Dates checkbox, the module also performs backward leveling. Backward leveling schedules activities to occur as late as possible without delaying the project finish. The module reverses the leveling process, beginning at the project’s late finish and working towards the beginning of the project. If insufficient resources are available to schedule an activity on its late dates, the activity is advanced to an earlier date. When the schedule is leveled forward and backward (by clearing the checkbox to preserve scheduled early and late dates), the project’s early and late start/finish dates are updated.

Regards,

Arend

Check for out-of-sequence events, in addition to negative float these can create some issues.
