I have a project that is progressed for 1 year and we are rebaselining the project. We have taken an update project from the previous week and adjusted tasks to level the resources. We used the remaining budget hours by resource to level the work. I then Open the current updated project, maintain baseline and insert the updated project. I then assign a baseline and expect to see the same resource loading as was adjusted when I review the resource bar usage. But I am not getting the same leveling. I have set my admin to use current dates and the project is set to reset Original duration to remaining. BUt not getting what I would expect. Anyone have any ideas

Hi Ron,
is every activity out of order? are all remaining durations and bl remaining durations unequal?
I see from your profile that this can not be the first schedule you make.. so from this distance it is difficult to guess where the updating and leveling went wrong, it must be a setting that is not default.
Remaining Units = Remaining Duration x Remaining Units/Time
Have you re-assigned resources? If an activity has multiple resources assigned, each resource will be allocated remaining units in proportion to how many remaining units each resource previously was assigned for that activity.
For example, if Resource 1 previously had six hours of remaining units on an activity with remaining units of five days, and Resource 2 previously had four hours of remaining units, Resource 1 will now have remaining units of three days (24 hours) and Resource 2 will have remaining units of two days (16 hours).

Thanks Arend Your suggestion is what I have been doing but am unable to it to work. I would think that the remaining units would be the new baseline once I bring this into the B project and compare them but its not showing that way as I bring the BL remaining hours
Hi Ron,
I am not sure if i understand you correct;
I would say that you take your latest updated schedule (A) with all progress reported and remaining budgets. Take a copy, level that and that will be your new plan (B) for the remaining work.
If you compare A and B you will see the difference between the old schedule and resource loading and the new one.
If B will be the leading source of information you have to make another copy (C) of it and set that as your new baseline.
So then you have B as your project schedule, A as the initial planning baseline and C as your mid project status baseline.
B and C should have the same leveling of resources.
Result may vary if activities are task dependent/ resource dependent, specicfic calenders are applied and duration type.
Regards,
Arend
