Multiple resources in P6

Hi,

I'm looking for some help with resourcing in P6 v5 please.

We have one activity with multiple resources stretching over a perdio of 10 working days.  I'd like to schedule one resource so he/she works 2 full days at the start of the activity and 3 half days at the end.

What is the best way of doing this?

Many thanks in advance!

Here is the curve you need to assign to each resource...

I do not use P6 but recall modeling manual assignments for variable resource loading using resource lag and resource duration with Primavera P3 and SureTrak.

In your case assign resource with 0 resource lag for 2 days and then assign the same resource on a separate entry for 3.5 days with a resource lag of 6.5 days.

If you try this assigment on two activities with same assignments and duration linked SS with no lag P3 will handle resource leveling as expected while SureTrak will not and might show a distorted resource profile/assigments.

For P6 what I have read is that it will not resource level any activity using resource curves.

Hi,

Many thanks for your comments.

I'm not allowed to use Resource Calendar at all. Will the Resource curve work?

Hanson,

Why are you worried with -ve floats?

1. Seeing -ve floats in your program may help you to remind that some actions are required with the activities.

2. In order to avoid -ve floats, remove all constraints in the program.

3. If you don't want to see -ve floats, monitor the program periodically at a closer interval and immediately reminds the concerned personnel to introduce remedial measures ASAP.

Hope this will help.

Raymund,

That was great solution. But I just worry about the TF when we change the calendar for some resources we may get -ve Total float. So, I just wondering if there is another way we can solve this problem.

Thank you,

Hanson

Sunchana,

Create a Resource Calendar for each resources.

Go to Enterprise... Calendars... Resources.... create a calendar in the name of the resource.
Assign the new resource calendar to the resource.

Or make use of the Resource Curve.... modify an existing curve to suit your requirement. Assign the curve to the resource.

Hope this will help.
