Updating frpm Excel to P6 VR8.1

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and hope to learn a lot from all the forum members.

I am having trouble in updating from an Excel File to Primavera.

My exact sequence of activities are as below

  •  Exported a Schedule to Excel
  • Updated "Completed" and "In Progress " Activities from exported excel of previous  version of Schedule.
  • Imported the updated excel to recent version of Schedule

The Problems I am Encountering are

  • After updation , all the activities are directly comin onto Project level .All The WBS however exists under Project, but without any activities under them
  • The Updation though shows "successful" message , is not updating the Schedule as expected.

This might be  beacuse of my lack of  required experience in Primavera , However in all right earnest i request forum members to help me out here.

Regards

Hi Abhijith,

I normally update my programme in P6. I find it easier by dragging the data date line to the cut-off date, which then highlights all the activities from your last update to the next, I then update progress project wide, (under tools, update progress) then proceed to input actual dates and % complete for each activity, if there is no progress i simply untick the start dates and % complete to zero. Anyway, try to check if you did the following:

1.) Did you export Actual Start and Finish Dates?

2.) When you imported the updated file, did you choose update existing file?

3.) Prior to updating the file, Check and modify which field are being updated

4.) Also make sure you did not delete the 2nd worksheet, when you export P6 file to excel, it creates 2 worksheets, the 2nd worksheet contains data of your file.

Best of luck,

Daniel
