My P6 is very slow

Dear Friends

Iam working on Primaver 6 R8.1 - SQL SERVER 2005



my problem is that making any process now take extraordinary time. opening one file take may be 15 minutes, opening 2 files together to make any work take more than 30 minutes. i checked primavera background agent and found it working. also there i got some quiries in PDF file from one friend, i did these quiries but also didnt help.



please r there any method to make working faster i really loose my time now for nothing?

do this

Go to start

All programs

Select Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Then Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Server name is the name of your computer\PRIMAVERA

Authentication is SQL Server Authentication

Login: sa

Password is: Prima123Vera

Select Connect

On the left expand the databases and select pmdb$primavera

Uptop select New Query

on the right type this

update statistics project with fullscan ,all

update statistics task with fullscan, all

Then right click execute

Then type

exec sp_updatestats

Then right click execute

Hi,

When using Primavera P6 with Microsoft SQL Server database, we can have problem like this:

  • Loading Data hangs at 98%.
  • Performance issues in SQL Server.
  • Opening projects is slow.
  • PM.exe not responding after entering username and password.
  • Project Management window disappears after loading data.
  • Cannot login to PM, no error.

IMAGE DELETED 5/11/2018 AS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON THIS VERY OLD DISCUSSION THAT FOR SOME REASON WAS RESURRECTED AFTER BEING INACTIVE FOR SIX YEARS.

Make sure you have a backup of your database before it is too late.

Suggest calling ORACLE support team, they are very capable professionals that can guide you to a solution, I suppose although not obvious it shall be an easy solution as P6 is famous for its ease of use, so easy it is their favorite sales pitch.

thanks for reply, but actually i can't delete any of the files which currently exist on my database. but i didnt reach the 4GB Limit till now. iam 3.5 GB now.

Hosam,

Delete old files you do not use anymore. Back them up and delete (just in case you need them for reference in the future)

Always keep your database lean to keep it running smoothly.
