Hey,
Ive just set up a new project. For that project i have set up a calender where the working hours are 11hrs a day, 7 days a week. I have made this calender the activity and project default calender. I have also gone into user preferences and changed the work time to 11hrs per day.
However when i add a new activity, it automatically comes up with an 8hr duration as opposed to an 11hr duration. Also the times that are shown are 00.00 - 14.30 which isnt even 8 hours!! It should show 06:30 - 17:30 as per the calender. Obviously somethings going wrong, can anyone shed any light?

Do you have any resource allocations with different calendars?

Make sure that you have completed step 2 as i indicated. Because 'default duration' is another setting and different than 'hours/day'.

After arranging calendar settings;
1- Go to Edit-->User Preferences-->Time Units--> Duration Format="Hours"
2- Go to Admin-->Admin Preferences-->General-->Activity Duration-->Default Duration=11h
3-Go to Admin-->Admin Preferences-->Time Periods Check the check box for "Allow users to specify the number of work hours..."
4- Go to Edit-->User preferences-->Time Units-->Hours per Time Period; Set Hours/day=11 h
Without step 2, you add 8h/day when you add a new activity by default.
