Hi Gary

Did you check Arend's items?

You wrote: "Gary, tasks are resource loaded, clalenders are the same, never use resource levelling automatically, no lags in relationships, no constraints on activities, if i remove durations to zero task bar comes back to 1 day"

So, the the resource calendar is used, the activity's calendar ignored. If you'll check activity's and assignment's duration, and the dates: Which information is given?

Good luck!

Gary,

maybe the 'units per time' are causing this strange behaviour.

under units & prices in the resource screen there maybe the solution to your problem.

Probabely in combination with the time units in the User Preferences.

check:

project calender
activity calender
resource calender

is your planning in hours or in days,
hours would be better

check the budgetted labor units

check activity type; task dependent
check duration type: fixed duration u/t

check if your resources are not allocated to other projects/activities

thats is what i can come up with....succes.

Hi Gary

Have you tried to fold in the non working sections of your horizontal display?

Have you put any holidays in the calendar?

Are you sure that you have the same calendar on both the task and the resources?

Best regards

Gary,

I am not a P6 user but still interested on the basics just in case I am in need to import schedules from P6 so excuse me if some of my suggestions do not make sense.

From a Paul Harris reference it is recommended that Fixed Duration and units is used because with this option the Activity Duration does not change when resource assignments are altered. Not sure but no harm to mention it.

Well this is as far as I can go, good luck.

Best regards,

Rafael

Are you updating progress using Duration % Complete or by entering Remaining Duration?

There is a possibility the issue is on your percentages and the way P6 calculate remaining duration.

Gary, tasks are resource loaded, clalenders are the same, never use resource levelling automatically, no lags in relationships, no constraints on activities, if i remove durations to zero task bar comes back to 1 day,

also:

1) are your tasks resource loaded? If so, check the resource calendars being used and check your schedule optinos to see if you are levelling resources during scheduling

2) do you have any lags in the relationships? if so, check your scheduling options to see ensure you are using the correct calendar to calculate these lags

3) Do you have any constraints on the activities? what happens to durations if you remove them?

Cheers,

Hi Gary

Is the 31 days shown as the duration length of the bar or in the text in the column?

Is the column text formatted to show elapsed (calendar) days or working days?

Best regards
