Activity Usage Profile - Hour by Hour

Hello All,

Is it possible to get an hour by hour resource distribuition in P6 ? I have prepared a shutdown programme which is resourced at an activity level but when I switch to activity / resource usage profile it seems to accumulate effort / unit on very first hour of the day against spreading it along a 24 hr work period in accordance with task sequence

Any help would be highly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Hi Deepak,

Will you be monitoring the actuals in hours too? if yes then you could encounter a problem as Primavera would distribute the actuals according to cumulative units if you don't store Financial Periods. And the minimum period value that you can store is for a day. That means that the actuals would be distributed cumulatively for a day. If you are not monitoring actual units hen its is not a problem.

Deepak,

I think your resource time distribution setting needs to be changed.

go to user preferances ----resource analysis-----time distributed data--change this to hours..

now you will ge the distribution in hourly basis.

Meraj,

Default curve in P6 is "Linear" and only time this has to be assigned manually is for LOE's (something which i think is a known issue with P6) or when a different distribuition function is desired

Hi Deepak,

You could consider trying assigning a resource curve such as "Linear Curve" to all of the relevant activities. You can do this easily in Assignment Window. Although P6 is supposed to spread the units or the cost accross the entire activity length (specially when there is no curve assigned), however, I encountered once similar situation which I resolved using the above workaround. I will also appreciate if you let us know if this worked for you. Make a copy of your project for experimenting - just in case.
