I have a plan which is loaded with man hours, however I can only fit a certain number of men on board the vessel so I want to show a limit on the number of hours in any one day.
Can anyone tell me how to set a limit.
I know you can do this on each resource to show a limit on a particular resource but I just want an overall limit and then show the overallication.
This is to help a planning session to level the plan.
cheers
Martyn
I'm not quite sure what you did.
Assign a limit to a role: Enterprise --> Roles --> Tab "limits" - equivalent to the resource
Watch the assignments: View Activities --> Details --> Tab resource --> column Roles. Is it your role.
Watch the limit: Resource Usage Profile: Show roles, with the limit, select your role; this window can remain open if you'll use the assign button on the right side of your screen.
If you'll let me know your results I can try to support you more.

Hi and thanks for the reply but it doesnt seem to work.
I added all the resources as required as usual and created a role. I added all resources to that role.
I can see the custom role limit on the user preferences but not sure where to set this limit????
On the resource usage profile options there isnt a setting to put in any limits etc....
This is a basic need and I'm sure i have done this before in P3 & P5
any help appreciated
Hi Martyn
I would appreciate this feature as well.
If you don't yet use roles, you can you the role's limit which can be independent from the sum of the resources' limit - User Preferences --> Resource Analysis. Automatically resources are assigned with their primary role to tasks.
If you are working with roles you'll assign the resources with a special role to your tasks. Later on you'll check for this special roles.
Good luck!
