Manual % Weighting in P5

Hi everyone

I'm hoping the vast well of knowledge out there can help me out of a pickle with a new PM.

Basically, I need to assign a % Weighting to various activities that I can manually enter (not generated by the software) as this figure will be assigned by the workstream owner.  I need this figure to roll-up and be shown in summary WBS bars.  For example:

WBS = Passenger Services

Activity 1 - % Weighting = 25% - OD = 15d

Activity 2 - % Weighting = 50% - OD = 5d

Activity 3 - % Weighting = 25% - OD = 10d

If Actvity 1 has finished ie RD = 0 and Duration % Comp = 100%, this activity needs to contribute only 25% to the total Weighted % Comp shown under the Passenger Services WBS summary.

I don't mind if I have to update the Weighted % Complete manually, so long as I can show the combined weighted % figure in the WBS Summary bar as I need to produce a Level 2 Summary that shows this data for reporting.

I can't use activity steps to achieve this because the % will become 100% when all steps are achieved, when actually the activitiy in it's entirety is only equal to, say, 60% (weighting as assigned by the owner).

I've also been asked to assign a curve per department/owner, so perhaps a dud resource is of use to - suggestions please?

This is not the way I would normally operate, but it's what the client wants.

I hope this all makes sense, and I'll be really grateful for any help/advice.

Hi Andy,

To your problem, I solved it showed in attachment. I base on the equation:

Earned Value Cost = Budget At Completion (BAC) x Performance % Comp.

with Activity type is duration and I assigned expense as "a trick" for each activity that equals your "weighted %". I think we can use this if we ignore actual activity cost.  And Performance % Comp. is the roll-up number. You can dig more in help content of Primavera

I'm a newbie, so if there is something wrong, tell me please. Tks
