Chain of Predecessors

Is it possible to create a filter or something similar to see the chain of predecessors without having to use the trace logic function? I do a fair share of work in Pertmaster which has this set up as a filter already. I specify a filter to start at a particular milestone and it will filter out only the activities that have logic ties that go through this particular milestone. It works the same going the other way if I want to see what the chain of sucessors are. This is particularly helpful when needing to identify impacts to the milestones as well as impacts that milestone may cuase if it is late. I would prefer a graphical representation and not just a report, but I will take that too if I can select a particular milestone and not the entire project. 10,000+ activities will create a very large report.

Thanks.

Jody,

There is no function to do this in Primavera.

If you select a milestone and make a note of all it predecessors, then you can code it to flag they impact upon the milestone date.

You can then create a report to give you the end date of each predecessor (for the a particular milestone) and use it in an excel report that compares the float between the baseline/current milestone date and the baseline/current finish date of the predecessors.

1) goto user preferences and under "application" switch off reorganize automatically
2) set a normal filter to select only one activity at the end of the chain.
3) goto "Trace logic" and start moving backwards and forwards. The barchart now reflects the activities that you are choosing

Dos that help?
