You may need to check the schedule integrity after doing such process.  You may perform any unintentional change in the GS's schedule.  You may run it through our Schedule Cracker software to identify any changes and anomilies resulted from the change.

Good Luck

I can send you a spreadsheet that can give you some idea. If your schedule is simple and you donot have to match the earned hrs then you may not need the spreadsheet.

You meants I’ve to do in excel spreadsheet then further implement onto schedule?

Izam,

We have the same case in many of our projects; we being the contractor maintian a level 4 schedule whereas the CMT group maintains a level 3. What we suggest is to map our activities to their’s. Ussally it is simple for example if we have 15 piping activties they will have 3...so they have to map our 15 to their 3.

Try for a few activities...make a simple spreadsheet and I hope it will work..Thanks.

Rodel,

Back to my first query,I guess you are right, the best way is to have level 4 for Schedule A then we can direct import from schedule B(which is level 4 too)

If I do the summary on Schedule B level 3 then further transfer to Schedule A level 3 it won’t give the exact links and difficult to analyze the total float plus I can’t press "scheduling button" F9

But If I do that manually then it will take time because I’ve 3000 activities.

Oh gosh I’m in trouble I guess. What should I do?

Izam,

I fully recommend changing all activity codes to Global and redoing your layout. You don’t need to input again your activity code values in the Project as it will recognize by Primavera. That will works on every projects compare to Project level activity code.

Another issue is once Activity Code is change to Global it cannot be back to Project unless you change it back using API or direct to the Primavera Database.

Rodel,

It is make sense but I do believe I will have a problem to define critical activities.Never mind I will give a shot first.Any results will advertised here

Another issue is I’ve one project file which previously was under Project activity codes but now turns to Global activity codes. How do I want to make it everything back as normal? Because my group and sort setting didn’t recognize the activity codes.

Rodel, I would like to express you a thousand thanks for your helping hand and proposal

Izam,

If you have the same activity ID of Level 3 Schedule B and schedule A then you can update using direct import otherwise manual update if not.

The best is to have the level 4 schedule in Schedule A and just run a report on level 3.

Another way is create a WBS summary activity on Level 3 of Schedule B with the same activity ID of level 3 on Schedule A and export only WBS summary activity to import back to Schedule A using excel export/import functions.
