P6 will calculate Price/Unit as defined. If an activity have resource assigned and falls on different rate defined then it will used the rate that falls on the date define but will show only one rate with “*” but using average or linear distribution from start to finish date of activity. If resource are assigned repeatedly on one activity and change the planned date to align on the rate define then the distribution will be based on different rate defined but will show only original rate or the first rate define. If an activity fall on the resource rate alignment then the correct rate will be reflected.

Ex: Activity start 03-May-2010 and finish 21-May-2010 having on resource with different rate every 5 days (10, 20 & 30)

1) If assigned once using 10hrs/day will have a sum of 300 for the whole duration and distribute evenly from start to finish which is equal to 20 per day.

2) If a resource assigned three times and planned date is change to suit rate changes then it will distribute according to the rate define but will show only the first rate define.

3) If an activity is defined to suit rate changes then it will show correct rates.

Note: Make sure that recalculate assignment cost is refresh when rate changes to refresh the correct value.

Fair enough, It seems I stand corrected.

Maybe there is some setting in the project properties box which could effect this outcome.

May be worth a look tomorrow when I return to the widget factory.

Forgot to mention though, the unit price shown in the activity screen bottom display does not change from the original unit price. It can be a bit confusing when the unit price multiplied by the remaining hours and the remaining cost do not appear to add up.

I think that you will find that P6 changes the unit price to that in the resource screen at the dates identified.

I have got a fully resourced programme with estimated incremental rises every October 1st which runs for approximately 5 years. When updating the programme and an activity which was planned for before the increment al rise now straddles it, the value of that activity increases. I too thought that it would be too good to be true but it actually does it properly.

Haresh,

I will stand corrected if I’m wrong (I hope I am), but I understand that Primavera will price the whole activity based on the price of the resource at the start date of the activity.
