Level Resource

Haresh,

When you level resources, it is best if you have all the projects that use the resources you are responsible for open.

Projects that are not open cannot have their dates changed, so it is as if the closed projects have top priority for the resources.

You can exclude closed projects from this consideration by their pririty score.

Izam,

The technique I use is to "double dip" the resource.

So if an activity needs, say 100 manhours of Instrument technician, and 20 hours of Inspection - then it also needs 120 hours of a resource called "bed".

Haresh,

"Consider assignments in other projects with priority equal/higher than" Tick to include resource assignments in other projects within the range of the leveling priority you specify when determining if a resource is over-allocated. Assignments in closed projects are considered. For example, if you tick the checkbox and specify a leveling priority of 5 in this field, the leveler considers all projects with a project leveling priority of 1,2,3,4, and 5.

The leveling priority ranges from 1 (highest priority) to 100 (lowest priority). Set a project’s leveling priority on the General tab of the Projects Window.
