Hello,

Crystal Reports is the best report generator on earth, which enables you to produce tabular or graphical reports from any database ranging fromMS Access to Oracle and XML files

As PM 5/6 stores project data in a SQL Server or Oracle database, it is possible and not difficult to produce reports by using Crystal Reports, far easier than by using the report generator of PM 5/6

I agree with Alexandre, I think crystal reports is robust enough to do reports for primavera.

Sooner or later I will also do reports in crystal reports but as I’ve said before, my team are used to excel thus as much as possible I still do it in excel.

Alexandre, can you give us some links about crystal reporting? I was able to do some reports that I need in crystal reports but I am receiving some errors like "memory full". Have you also connected it to the SDK to get tables like task_spread and resource_spread.

Thanks.

Anbin,

an "easy" way to generate smart reports (either tabular or graphical) from PM6 projects is to use Crystal Reports or any opensource compatible software

presuming you are aware of Crystal Reports, indeed!

by connecting Crystal Reports to the PM6 database via ODBC connection, you will be able to build sophisticated reports including graphics, and eventually obtain the resource by resource s-curve report PM6 is missing

browse thru’ PlanningPlanet and you will find some threads mentionning Crystal Reports as a report builder for PM6; or look at LinkedIn groups for additional information

Hope this helps,

Alexandre

Dear D Artagnan,

Thanks for your reply.I saw the report generated by u using Access & excel. But am not aware of MS access.

I have also asked your help in generating report using access in the tread "SDK query".

With Thanks & Regards,

This is also what I find lacking in P6 despite it’s being such a robust planning program. I believe they will have these feature in the near future. I have done something using SDK and MS Access to get the data on excel where you can make use it’s graphical reporting tools. Just click "update" in the form and "refresh" data in excel and it will have a synch data with the program your SDK is connected to.

i posted my sample reports here.

Anbin,

Tabular Reports is easy, as there is separate section for reports. Here they have already created lot of templates and so, u just need to spend some time to get report u want.

As far as graphical reports are concerned similar to P3, it is not possible as primavera guys were selling Primavera Charts for graphical reporting but they have stopped selling it from October last year.

Howver, u can still make some S-Curves in P6. Here’s the thread for that.

I dont know the links mentioned in the thread works or not, as 4shared has been banned by Du in Dubai in UAE. If it is not working u can drop a PM to Arnold Puy to get the guideliens for setting the S-Curves.
