S Curve for cost and Manpower both shows different

Dear All,

I have a situation.

as this week i update the program total performance complete is more than scheduled but when i prepared cost based S curve the actual value for this month is coming less than planned for the month (if i go through budgeted and actual manpower it is showing logically  correct values) please help

scenario

my project is divided in two segments

Villa and Infra

villa is ahead of Scheduled with positive float

Infra is behind the scheduled with negative float

project level actual performance Percent Complete is more than scheduled Percent Complete with negative float

Dear Mr.Gary,

Thanks for your Input.

problem is in cost based S Curve, values are showing i have spent more Money than planned early and less than planned late i am confused why this is happening where at summary level my project is still ahead of schedule.

Siddiqui,

This is quite feasible

Performance % complete is more than scheduled means you have done more work than planned -good news!

Actual costs/manpower is less than planned means not only have you done more work than planned, but using less manhours than planned -good news!

Villa is ahead of schedule and Infra is behind schedule means that despite doing more work than planned in total, you are late on doing one or more critical activities within the Infra section. -bad news!

You can perform better than planned and still be late, if you perform well on non-critical activities but poorly on critical activities.
