To All:
hello people. i am just registered to this awesome site. maybe it's been discussed here many times but pardon me i'm just new to this site.
will somebody guide me how to have steps on resource and cost allocation? or where i will go from here?
thanks in advance. more power to you people.

Anoon:
Sir I am using P3, I already input all the resources. When on the main window of P3, the curve I am talking is the curve generated at command ''ctrl + f7''. Coz it looks like the same on the s-curve i generated on graphic report.
Anyway thanks again for your time.

Thanks a lot Mike.
Though it's still a bit tough, hope I'll understand this sooner.

Hi Mon
I prefer to keep things simple.
When modelling task durations in a construction project I use one resource called hours which is extracted from the BOQ/Cost plan.
This is balanced by the gang size.
Costs are put in at summery level 3 and 2
Best regards
Mike Testro
sorry, i'm not sure if I understand what you were asking; resources and costs cannot be defined in s-curve
s-curve is dependent on the units used, and it can be anything measurable
Thanks Anoon
it's a great hint considering that i'm a newbie in planning.
hope you don't mind follow up questions...
is the curve in resource profile (i.e. curve of the total resources) equal to the s-curve itself?
is it advisable to minimize the kinds of resources? say if i have already EXACAVATOR (Hammer & Bucket) on list of resources, I will not put JCB anymore on the list?
Thanks again Sir for your time....
you can start from the BOQ, if its not available then you can develop one, by reading and studying drawings, specifications, etc.
next step is how you are going to build your project?; you may have lots of options considering resources to be used like equipment (automation) and manpower (skills may differ).
costs will also vary, depending on locations, quality of materials specified, manpower skills; period or time of construction; method of deliveries, etc.
