You are right, in P3 there are different progress curves you can assign to each activity and you can even customised it. You can basically adopt the default distribution in P3 represented in perentages, however in excel, this will depend on the duration of the activity and you need to make your own judgement on how you want to distribute the weightings. First you need to judge on what type of progress curve you need to apply for each activity, i.e. linear, bell type, front load, back load, etc. and then you decide on the percentage distribution.

This is the equation for a bell shaped curve.
You can use this to get the y coodinates for the curve . this can be used to get the percentage distribution which can then be used to spread your manhour data in excel.
Alternatively you could get the percentage used by primavera to spread the data corresponding to each curve and use it in excel.

My understanding is that Primavera distributes the resource or cost at the activity level of detail. I was not aware that distributions were made by time period.
