Yes, I would recommend Openproj to manage small projects, or projects the same size I would use MSP for; IMO, neither OP or MSP is suited for large projects you would use Primavera or PowerProject for.
I cannot say if there are hidden issues or not.
Alexandre
Would you recommend OpenProj? Are there any hidden issues with the appliaction? About other opportunities, we can discuss offline. Pp me your email address

IO,
I dont think so; OpenProj and Seavus are just one step above entry level
They do not have PERT analysis macro as MSP 2003 and 2007 have.

thanks Alexandre.. Can it be intergrated with Pertmaster Risk Analysis application?

hello IO,
OpenProj (www.serena.com) is a MS Project 2003 clone; it works on Windows and Linux machines; it has all the pros and cons of MSP 2003; opens and reads mpp files, saves projects in its own format or xml to exchange with MSP 2003 or other software reading xml projects files; reports are as poor as in MSP; graphs are much better, with histograms and S curve; 100% free.
Another MSP clone is Seavus Project Planner (www.seavus.com), I would rank it a little below OpenProj; a Swedish company, they want to compete on the MSP clone market; user graphical interface better than Openproj; about the same pros and cons, except the software is not (yet?) freeware, currently $99 a single license.
Both companies signed a partnership agreement by end of 2009.
On line help is very small for Openproj, but you can find (takes time) a book written by an American girl; much better for Seavus.
I do give training on both apps, and I can travel from Paris area to your place if you are interested!
