I perfectly agree with Jackie. But bear in your mind It doesn’t matter which version it is, because it just only tools, as long u can come out the good planning report then everything will be fine right? But are you willing to keep yourself outdated with continuous using P3? What happen if one day we’ve P10? Are u still stick with P3?

If you have a colleague with 20 years P3 experience he definately had e head start on everyone else.

To my mind both are good packages. For those of us that had been using P3 for a long time the obvious resistance to change comes to play. (I had the same feelings changing from Finest Hour to P3)

I miss some features lost from P3 but I also believe P6 has some great new features.

I suggest you don’t try to compare. Overall it is a matter of choice and while both are arround, you will always get advised both ways.

Try them and decide for yourself.

I have a very P3 experienced colleague... say about 20yrs experience... he always wanted P3 than P5 or P6... he even asked this question, if P6 is better than P3, why Primavera sells it almost twice cheaper than P3?

I can’t comment any further until I myself will have hands-on experience with P6.

The bottom line, whether it is P3 or P6 as long as we know what we are doing, it is fine!

So keep on planning...

Almost all the features of P3 is still available in P6 and more. I will try to enumerate some advantage of P6 over P3 here: (1) You could type longer activity name in P6. You dont have to find abbreviation of terms in order to minimized the number of characters. (2) Its easier to establish WBS. (3) Reporting in P6 is very much similar to MS Access thus if you are familiar with MS Access it easy to make report in P6. (4) Its easier to connect one project to another projects. (5) You could also do budgeting in P6 (6) There are new fuctions like threshold, issues and risks that are vere useful in tracking projects.

Advantages of P6 is not limited to what is listed above. Try to use P6 and see it for yourself. Anyway if you know P3 its easy to learn P6.

Can you pls explain why?

I know P6 but I haven’t personally used it in projects yet. Some planners prefer P3 than P6 and they have their own reasons. With my query, I got 2 who prefers P6 more than P3. Can you please share your comments on P6 being better than P3? Thanks.
