Using P6 to forecast equipment fuel consumption

Has anyone ever used P6 to forecast fuel consumption, based off equipment resources, or as a resource in and of itself? Is this a possible application, or would this most likely have to be itegrated with some sort of spreadsheet export to combine the data?

Thanks,

As long as the fuel consumption is measured in unit/time and as well as equipment engine running is measured in time similar to activity duration. Then forecast consumption can be derived accordingly.

It is a possible application if you have the right scheduling software that can model Consumable Resources.

  • should be able to model consumption,
  • should be able to model deliveries,
  • should be able to resource level consumable resources, if consumable resources are depleted the activities are delayed until replenished,
  • common scenario on remote areas but not so common on most jobs unless site storing facilities are limited.

Maybe there is a way for P6 to mimic consumption/deliveries but doubt P6 will resource level the consumable.  In such case at every update you will have to manually resource level the material.
