I have recently changed from P3 to P6, and I am struggling through my first schedule. I setup my actvities and codes. Now I am inputing my recources and budget. But everytime I check out the project or make changes to the duration the budget goes to zero, but the resource remains, is there a why to lock the budgeted cost?

Raymund hit the nail on the head
check these things
if the calculate cost from units is checked to yes you will have to run a global change
in the global change make sure that the Select Subject Area is set to Activity Resource Assignments
where calculate cost from units = Yes
then calculate cost from units = No
then on right select change then commit changes
as far as changing the duration type add a column
look under the General heading and bring over the duration type column
filter for ALL activities
click in the duration type column and change it to Fixed Duration & Units
now do a fill down for all of the remainder of the activities
do not worry about them not changing for milestone activities.
the above changes changes the existing activities
also go to the resource directory and and look for your resource and uncheck the calculate cost from units if it is checked.
also go to the projects directory make sure that you project is highlighted
click on the defaults tab and change the duration type to Fixed Durations and Units
both of the changes to the above items will now be the correct setting when you add new activities.
Hi,
I suggests to uncheck the Tick Box for the "Calculate Cost from Units" in the Resource Details Pane. Or Set your Duraion Type to "Fixed Duration & Units".
