Hi All,
I am still very new to P6. In my last role I used P6 Professional (or what I beleive it is known to be as the Windows Client) where I opened P6 through an exectuable file. In my new role however P6 is still being rolled out. I have since found out that most of the Project Controllers/Planners (like me) will use P6 through the web client (or EPPM?), and that there will be a few people who will be doing the monthly updates to actuals/baselines/progress etc for all the projects.
The question I have is what is the real difference between the two? It was my understanding that the Windows Client is the full tool that the planners and controllers should be using to maintaint the schedules, whereas the web client is used for other project team members (i.e. the Project Manager) to have a view of all the schedules and data. Am I completely wrong in my understanding? I am concerned that I will not get a full understanding or experience in P6 that I need for my career through the web client? Or does the web client have more functionality that I am not giving credit for?
Appreciate you help!
Thank you.
