Hello All,
My company is currently trying to educate all field management employees on the use of P6. There are only few people in the company that know how to use the program. We want to get everyone up to speed with this scheduling tool.
We are currently putting together an training package and will be providing a hands on training after. We plan on traing about 7 people per jobsite at a time. The problem now is that we only have one license per jobsite. All these 7 people are not going to be using P6 on a daily basis (some of them might not even use it). Managment are very hesistant on buying extra 6 licenses that may never be utilized as these licenses are costly. We tried to download a demo version of the software but Primavera doesnt provide a demo sotware. We are planning of having a hands on training where everyone will have the software on their laptop and follow instructions from instructor. What is the best way of organizing this training? We are open to any suggestion on how we can? How do professional Primavera Traininer usually conduct their training?
it sounds like upper management has not bought into the education aspect of ALL field management employees using P6. One of the best ways "to get everyone up to speed in this scheduling tool" is not only by education but also by using it. This is like getting a drivers license but not ever being able to drive you know how to drive but you do not have any vehicle to drive EVER.
Just training someone on how to use the software and not letting them have access to use the tool provides a limited benefit.
To answer your question some companies that train individuals use a virtual training.
Where by the person being trained only need a computer, phone (or PC with a mic and speakers), and an internet connection. Primavera software will be accessed by the student via a secure link over the internet.
Some companies will also install the software in a virtual environment for the student then delete the software once the training is over.
If you plan to train a lot of people at 7 at a time it might be a good idea to invest in 7 training laptops and 7 additional licenses and just let the student use the training laptop for the training class.
another idea is to change your class size to 8 and let 2 people share the laptop and siwtch off using it evey hour or so now you only need 4 additional trainig laptops and 4 additional licenses.
