Data Migration & P6

Does anybody know where P6 keeps your data files?

We have been informed that everyone in the business is getting a new computer over the next few months, and that existing data needs to be backed up and transferred over when the new machines arrive. For most people, this is a reasonably simple process, but, for us (standalone) P6 users, it gets complicated as far as I can see. I expect that I will loose all data in P6, and have to re-build the EPS with all the Exported XER's.

Does anybody know if I can copy a file (or files) from the P6 folders so as to negate the long & labourious task of having to totally re-build my EPS, one XER at a time?

this depends on if you are using microsoft slq or oracle as you inderlying database

you have two options

option #1 id you are using microsoft sql as your underlying database

you can back up your entire database including the eps structure you wil use the backup on the existng compute and you wil use restore on the new computer

here is the link with detailed instruction to do that see my posting there

option #2 is use an excel tool in conjunction with primavera SDK

here is the link to that see my post there
