General P6 Gripes and Looking for Answers/Ideas

Been using Primavera P3 for most of my career, and have been using P6 steadily for about 2 years now.  I'm currently using release 8.2, soon to upgrade to V. 8.3.  Anyway, I just figured I'd provide a list of my little gripes and issues with the software (when comparing to P3) and see if anyone agrees and/or has any fixes or recommendations.  Well, here goes:

  1. Cannot drag individual tasks up or down into new sections. (have to cut and paste)
  2. Sizing of "pop-up" windows never is retained.  The Group and Sort field is always "squished" and has to be expanded.
  3. No "reorganize now" or "refilter now" buttons.
  4. When veiwing actvity descriptions on a printout, they will go off the page, rather than switching to the other side of the activity bar.
  5. No "unlink activities" button.
  6. Custom Colors not saved in pallete
  7. Cannot split screen horizontally
  8. In page setup titleblock - cannot adjust line spacing in Text field.
  9. Fractional start/finish times is really frustrating.  Should be able to overide having to work in hours.
  10. No "copy picture" option which would allow to pasting fragnets directlty into email or Word file.
  11. Dont have the ability to show a log or notebook entry on the actual print layout.

Thats about it for now.  I know these are all basically minor in nature, but these little annoyances add up.  Maybe there are ways of doing some of the above items that I dont know about.  But these seem like easy fixes and hopefully, many of them will be addressed in the future versions.

Looking forward to comments!

Hi Brian

Simple answer - switch to proper software such as Asta Powerproject or Spider.

Asta software is interchangeable into and out of P6.

For any planning work I operate in Asta and switch to P6 if that is what the client wants.

Best regards
