Darren,
Thank you very much for taking the time to explain. I will try that today.
Thanks,
Stuart
Hi Stuart,
Sounds like you’ve already managed to create a calendar, but I’ll start from the beginning anyway.
Create a Calendar
1. Tools > Change Working Time
2. Click the New button, select the make copy of radio button and choose Standard from the drop-down menu. Choose an appropriate name for the new calendar (I’ll use Possession in this example) and click the OK button.
3. With the new ‘Possession’ Calendar selected, scroll down to November and select the 15th.
4. Select the Nondefault working time radio button delete the times displayed in the From & To cells and add 23:00 in the From cell and 00:00 in the To cell.
5. Select the 16th and repeat step 4, but this time add 00:00 in the From cell and 15:00 in the To cell.
6. Click the OK button.
Using the Possession Calendar
1. Using the Gantt Chart view, add a task to the schedule that will represent the possession.
2. Display the Task Information dialog box for your new task (Project > Task Information) and select the Advanced tab.
3. Select Possession from the Calendar drop-down menu and click the OK button.
4. Using precedence logic or date constraints to make the start of your Possession task the 15th November.
5. Set the Duration of the task to 16h.
The task should now start 23:00 on the 15th and finish 15:00 on the 16th, if it doesn’t then just adjust the hours.
You are correct in thinking that the default timescale for a MS Project day is 8hrs, so by using days as a Duration unit your finish time will be too early. By using a new calendar and hours instead of days, you can bypass the default calendar options.
Regards,
Darren
