I am working on my first Turnaround schedule on P6 8.2. 24x7, 2 shifts schedule. I have to assign 50% of my resources in the night shift and 100% in the day shift. I tried to use Task dependent activities and creating Shifts under 'Resource Shift'
When i assign shift to my resources and click on 2, it goes back to 1 automatically. I'm not able to create a schedule with 2 shifts. Therefore I changed all my activities to 'Resource dependent' and duration type to 'Fixed duration and Units' hence calculating no of resources. I have created different calendars for my day/night crew. Everything is working perfect but I am still in doubt if client will accept it or not considering all the activities are Resource dependent.
Please let me know if I am missing some point or doing it the wrong way before i submit my schedule.
