Did you try an independent tool such as schedule cracker (www.schedulecracker.com)? It performs a huge number of analytics and metrics that can help you achieve your goal. It provides very nice reports as well. It detects anomalies in the schedule and sort problematic activities for you. They offer it for free 14 day full functional trial.
Just a quick comment: as Primavera doesnt compute DRAG (i.e., delay due to each specific CP activity), delay analysis is bound to be, at best, a time-consuming effort, and well nigh impossible on large and complex projects.
Not only should PM software compute DRAG and DRAG Cost, but DRAG variance between plan and ABCP should be basic output. (The triggers for such variance [e.g., resource bottlenecks, change orders, schedule constraints, etc.] should also be easily accessible -- but I suspect thats asking for the moon!)
Fraternally in PM,
Steve D.
Oliver,
Effective in tracking schedule deviations (duration, schedule logic, etc.) that form part of your delay analysis.
But sometimes you have to do manual spot checking to verify the deviations.
