October ‘98 to February ‘99 Transferred to the Merk, Sharp & Dohme Pharmaceutical Works in Harlow, Essex on the Facilities Expansion project. Responsible to JE’s site manager for co-ordinating the planning and progress monitoring of all sub-contractors. Responsible for developing an overall integrated schedule for all aspects of design, procurement, engineering, construction and up to commissioning and hand over to client. A computerised logic network utilising Primavera P3 developed with approximately 1400 activities going down to level three activity reporting.

Developed spreadsheets to monitor individual & project progress to analyse and report each week to Site management and client. Main Programme set in place with all but electrical contractor’s base programmes set. Long term future on the project not available and planning became a part time progress reporting position.

June ’98 to October ‘98 Transferred to the Cabot Bv Carbon Black Plant in Botlek, Holland on the Special Blacks Project. Requested to take over from JE’s planning manager to further develop a ten-week shut down programme.

Shut down commenced in August 98 and was successfully completed ten weeks later in early October 98. Using Primavera P3 as the main planning tool, Developed a detailed interface programme from contractor’s Microsoft Project programmes. Updates carried out daily with a look a-head chart being coloured up and the overall programme being marked up weekly. A separate diminishing list of activities was also prepared weekly. Contractor progress monitored twice weekly with the aid of progress charts and productivity indicators. Attendance at client meetings and daily co-ordination meetings with other projects taking place in Botlek at the same time.

April ‘98 to June ’98     Commenced working on the St. Gobain Float Glass Plant Project at Eggborough near Selby, Yorkshire. The detail design was done by JE’s associate office in India (Humphry and Glasgow India, new Mumbai, Bombay) with a weekly conference telephone call to keep track of progress. The client’s office in Paris was utilised for alternate meetings. The project had several challenges to deal with especially with such distances between parties. First draft level one milestone plans using Primavera P3 were developed from interactive planning sessions with the client in Paris, and with the designers in Bombay, India.
