As Senior planners and managers, what would you expect from a planner with 2 years experience, coming into a role within your company.
I am moving into an unrelated company and am a planner with 2 years experience (however around 14 months of this is exposure to P6 and some pertmaster and the rest was on SAP software and project accounting/budgets).
I am trying to prepare as best as I can for this role and really want to read up on and practice any areas so as not to make mistakes and to hit the ground running.
Second question, when looking at a schedule or sitting with the PM, what do you run through (either mentally or in your questioning/checking with them) when looking at a schedule or scheduling/progressing the project (week by week or monthly basis)?

A. Not a lot - at this stage of your planning career you should be assisting a competent planner with the mundane tasks and learning as you proceed.
If you are being asked to do more than you can perform with confidence then you must tell your manager.

A. If it is your schedule then you will know the construction methodology that is behind the logic and can explain it easily.
If it not your project then you will need to spend some time probing what has been done before getting into any discussions.
An experienced planner can look at a programme and know instinctively that something is wrong.
