Lump sum/ Remeasurement

We have new project going to carry out, I've go thru the contract and it was mention that the claim is base from remeasurement.

To clarify what does remeasument means and how to substatiate the claim in what basis of the remeasurement?

Hi Ron,

As Mike says, it is all about paying according to actual quantities, as in many cases the actual vary from the estimated as in the BOQ plus or minus, and the difference is settleed by negative or positive change order.

Hi Ron

Remeasurement is where the quantities of the work at tender stage are deemede approximate and the actual volumes will be measured and paid as the work proceeds.

This is normally done by a qualified QS who will use the specified method of measurement.

Regarding the programme there is usually a clause that states the % increase or decrease that has to be absorbed before the programme can be adjusted.

In normal circumstances a change in quantities is not a variation.
