Hi Sankar

They both have different forms for diffedrent types of contract ie EPC, Employers Design. Fixed price, Remeasure BOQ etc plus a section for Sub-Contracts and Engineering / supervision etc.

Hi Sankar

I would suggest NEC is more suitable PROVIDED both the Employer and the Contractor are willing to deploy the people required to administer the contract correctly. Each will need at least one full time planner on the project.

NEC is worse than useless if it is not operated correctly.

Dear Sir,

Thanking you for your valuable reply .I am now working with  an EPC Contractor .We are now focusing on Buildings(Residentials) & Factories.Early for construction of an  airport we followed NEC.but for Residential buildings which is better in contractor's point of view FIDIC or NEC?

Hi Sankar

Rather than the differences here are some of the similarities in that they both set out:

1.  To be risk neutral.

2.  To present multi use suites of forms for most procurement / construction processes.

3.  Have an independent CA / Engineer administer the contract.

Some differences are:

NEC sets out to manage time issues pro-actively.

FIDIC relies on contractor's entitlement following relevant events.

NEC has the programme at the centre of the contract administration.

FIDIC uses the programme as a non contract document.
