Reporting planned out of hours material deliveries

Need a little guidance and also my first post!!

I have a live project currently thats working 6 normal dayshifts.

Due to client instructions, the programme is being delayed and client wants to instruct acceleration. They want 2 options for a 16hr working period - 6 days a week.

The uplifts in labour for the permanent resources isn't an issue. I have set an additional overtime period in the calendar to a seperate cost centre and that reports well.

They also want options for materials delivered only during normal daytime working and an option indication of the costs for material deliveries as required by the programme, i.e. day or night as demanded.

I cant see a mechanism to report planned consumables in a calendar overtime period. We have some long sequences of pours or surfacing that are multiple days and should become shorter, but I cant Report/quantify my out of hours materials automatically on a consumable resource other than long hand from the rates, so that it can be costed.

Problem is that the contract & programme will continue to have issues and I need to report or do what/ifs quickly rather than hand calculating the effect.

Any ideas or am I missing something on the consumable resources settings?

Mike, thanks for the response.

I think a further explanation of virtual permanent resource might be needed!

I take it you mean just a modelled res with a cost equal to the amount of say concrete, so that we can track the amount and the occurance of it appearing in the overtime slot?

This had crossed my mind as well, though I was hoping for a more elegant solution!

Its about time that Asta sorted out there consumable resources anyway! You cant even get a histogram/line graph of quantity required over time, other than with a cost of £1.

Let me know if Im off down a wrong lead on the above?

Thanks again

Hi Ade

Have you considered using virtual permanent resources to shadow the consumable ones?

They can then be resource modelled to drive the task durations.

Best regards
