Many Thanks Iain & Mike,
I received a good explanation from Chris Rymer (Asta) who reassured me that my % was correct. Sorry it’s difficult to explain reason here, in words only.
Thanks Again!
Kind Regards
Ray
Hi Iain
Welcome to Planning Planet.
You do have a point except that you cannot toggle between the methods in properties for individual tasks or summaries.
You can select two columns in the spreadsheet to compare the two.
My default is the simple Percent Complete option.

Hi Ray
Could this have anything to do with the progress on summary bars being calculated by the "duration method" or the "overall method" which can be changed through File - properties.
I think the duration method is based on an activity week count whereas the overall method gives every activity the same %age weighting.
Apologies if this is not relevant, and i have picked up the wrong end of the stick.
Regards
Iain
Hi Ray
I have just run a dummy progress on one my training modules that I am setting up and - on comparing the progressed bars and summaries with the "contract baseline"
there are significant differences.
When I filter on the critical tasks the same delay is constant.
On checking what caused the differences in the summary bars I have found:
1. Float is being used up.
2. Bars are going over holiday periods.
In fact it would be most unusual if the delay duration was the same on every summary bar.
I hope this helps
Best regards

Hi Mike,
Thanks, yes the end date moves out by 2 weeks, but i would have expected the summary bar to show a bigger delay. I have asked my colleague to have a look at it in V10 to see how its reacts.
I emailed technical services last week about it and am still awaiting a reply.
Thanks again
Hi Ray
So your end date moves by the same amount of delay on the structural steel.
Sorry but I have no idea what is going on - I will try to re-create the problem.
Either contact technical support or maybe Andrew Willard will pick it up.
Best regards
Mike Testro
Hi Mike,
The progress line is zig zag and there is no float as the item in delay task (structural steel) is critical.
Thanks
Ray
ps.
I read a rather complicated explanation on how progress figures are calculated on summary bars in the V11.2 release notes, which I didn’t understand.
HI Ray
Is your progress drop down straight or zig zag?
Do the delayed tasks have any float?
Best regards
Mike Testro
I guess i should have added, i am working with V11.2
I wonder is it something to do with the upgrade from V10 to V11
