This is a question for those of us who had to earn everything the hard way, nothing to waste, you got to smoke the last butt even if you burn your fingers.
Actually, you get to smoke 21 times, as Mike said, but the most tobacco you will be consuming by doing this trick is the tobacco contained in 15.75 cigarettes.
The correct answer is 15.75 cigaretes. If you werent saving butts, youd smoke only 12 cigarettes.
Mike you got it right, you could not forget the last butt, this was key. Are you using tweezers or nails for the last butt?

16 cigarettes will furning 16 butts
16 buts make 4 cigarettes
4 cigarettes make 4 more butts
so 21 cigarettes from 16 plus 1 butt.

Is compatible with both. You can use mathematica to get the solution but not needed.
My answer depends on whether I use P6 or Spider to figure out the problem.
If you smoke them all till the end using hair pulling tweezers then there will be no butts. If smoking with bare hands they will have, unless very experinced with your nails.
There is no catch, is a mathematical problem, a resource usage issue.
