Mike,
For people who ask for simple planning guidance the plan must be EXTRA cunning.
In fact, it must be so cunning, you could stick a tale on it and call it a weasel!
Oliver
Hi Oliver
Ok you saw through my cunning plan.
Best regards

10 Activities linked Finish to Start is surely better?
Hi Oliver
Yes this simple activity cascade is the building block for the programme.
Going down the list add suitable descriptions such a Site Clearance - Reduce Level Dig - Piling Mat - Piling etc etc.
Delete surplus activities and summarise the cascade as a sutable location - Block 1 for instance.
Generate the durations using resource modelling.
Copy and paste for other blocks ie Block 1 - 2 - 3 etc.
Summarise all these blocks as Piling works and then go on to the next sequence.
Using this system I can knock out a complex tender programme of 1500 activities in less than 2 days.
Best regards
Mike T.
10 activities linked start to finish?
Hi Oliver
Wrong guess.
This is a quick start up method using powerproject software. I use it all the time.
Best regards

Hi Jeric
Start with the basics.
1. Set up a calendar that suits the areas public holidays.
2. Set up your work pattern that relates to the work hours on site.
3. Set up a resource called "hours" that is modelled on Duration / Gang size. (The hours are to be extracted from the cost plan)
4. Set up the start date on the time bar.
5. Draw one single bar on your chart and allocate the Calendar - Work pattern and resource to it. (give it a duration of 5 days)and call it Activity 1.
6. Copy and paste the activity about 10 times and link them up start to finish.
7. You now have a basic template for any construction programme - this is using the "bottom up" method.
8. Save the file for future use.
