JKSB was appointed as the concessionaire for the Second Penang Bridge Project in August 2008. JKSB is responsible for the design, construction, management, operation and maintenance of the bridge. Designated as Junior Planning Engineer under the Planning Department. Duties and Responsibilities include:
§ Construction of reinforced concrete shafts.
§ Sinking shafts as caissons under free and compressed air pressure.
§ Diversion of public utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water, Telephone, Sewage...).
§ Driving tunnel (2.87 m - 2.20 m I.D.) with Earth Balance Machines (Tunnel Boring Machines).
§ Erection of the primary tunnel lining (Reinforced concrete segments).
Project was executed by U.S based Bechtel Co. Inc. ( www.bechtel.com )and Turkey based Enka Co.
