Trained as a civil engineer, Ewen has strong technical skills with a sound understanding of both design and construction which compliment his commercial skills and give added value to clients in achieving optimal solutions in complex projects. Ewen also has considerable data analysis expertise and IT skills that allow him to quickly disentangle project issues and present them in a simple and persuasive manner.

I started as an Traineer Engineer in 2000 and quickly progressed to be a Junior Engineer on site. On a large portion of these jobs I was the only person on site full time responsible for Engineering Controls including planning all works and monitoring, reporting of the works.

Project Controls Lead for Eastern Cape Infrastructure Joint Venture (ECI JV), providing EPCM services to Transnet Capital Projects while carrying out various capital projects within the Port of Ngqura, Port of Port Elizabeth and Port of East London.

Responsible for developing scope of work and monitoring of quality and progress of construction work.   Directly reported to Project Site Manager.   Key responsibility focused on ensuring corporate, client, and regulatory compliance of all activities (technical, financial, and human resource activities).   Managed costs and project timelines, ensuring all deliverables were meet by agreed upon milestones.   Prepared and analyzed progress reports and updated master schedule

Implemented and coordinated all activities relating to change and estimates, project cost planning, reporting, and providing effective support to projects at all phases of the development.  Store actual cost, units, earned value and planned value by customizable financial period.  Worked closely with contract administration in reviewing monthly progress invoices for work performed.  

Appointed to oversee the tasks of planning and directing activities related with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards.  Managed labor, resources, equipment, and to ensure projects adhered to all requirements (quality, budget, deadlines, and regulatory compliance).  Defined and monitored quality policies and continuous improvement processes.
