New Weekend Puzzler: Earned Value and DIPP Analysis on the Phlogiston Mining Project

I just posted a new Weekend Puzzler at my Total Project Control blog. It’s titled “Earned Value and DIPP Analysis on the Phlogiston Mining Project.” It steps the reader through some fairly simple earned value analysis and then extends the discussion to project investment analysis by way of a project’s expected monetary value (EMV), the value/cost of time and DIPP tracking. The answers are at the end.

You can find the Puzzler here.

Weekend Puzzler: Earned Value and the DIPP

Many people have expressed pleasure at the “Weekend Puzzlers” I have posted on my blog. So I posted one again today.

It’s a multiple choice quiz on (relatively) simple earned value and DIPP calculations. And the answers, along with the calculations, are posted below the quiz, so you can not only check your answers but figure out where you may have gone wrong.

Hey, earned value quizzes are more fun than crossword puzzles, aren’t they?

Weekend Project Management Puzzler: Where to Use Extra Resources?

I just posted a new "puzzler" for the weekend on my blog. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it every weekend – but I will whenever possible.

If you like exercising your brain and/or your PM skills, today’s puzzler is definitely about PM skills. It deals with critical path analysis and how good decisions can be supported by the information from that analysis.

If you like exercises like this and want to have them be a regular feature, please post a comment on the blog to that effect.

Presidents' Day Weekend Puzzle: George Washington's Project Schedule

It’s President’s Day weekend in the US, and Massachusetts is under the gun for another blizzard. But for all others (even those in other countries) I just published a new puzzle on my blog:  I hope you have fun with it (and yes, it’s only intended to be fun!).

Meanwhile, here’s saluting all cricket fans, as the Cricket World Cup starts today in Australia and New Zealand. (Go Windies!)

Fraternally in project management and cricket,

Steve the Bajan
