Progress and S-Curve for Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects

R
Raul Santos 👤 Member for 16 years 7 months

I would like to ask the experienced guys in EPC companies or projects (EPC = Engineering, Procurement, Construction):

- What approach do you follow to track progress and develop S-Curves for EPC projects?

- How do you do this for each of the phases? (for Engineering, Procurement, Construction)

- How do you combine all the phases into a single one to obtain the Overall Progress for the project?

Contractual Basis for imposing milestones with NEC Option c

N
Neil Coker 👤 Member for 15 years 7 months

We have a situation where we have been instructed to accelerate works to meet a new milestone date but the Client has specifically noted that the Key Date has not changed (the Key Date is next year and the new milestone is before Christmas this year). In addition, this has not been instructed under Cl 36 "Acceleration"  but under Cl 60 "Compensation Events" . As defined under Cl 61.1 we have started the work and issued the quotation and programme to the Client.

When EPC Contractor shall finish developing detail schedules for each phase of the Work?

Gents,

I understand that when EPC contractors are stepping in to let's say the design phase of contract they would need to have their design schedule as much detailed as possible while still keeping  schedules for future phases of work(i.e. construction) just outlined...

the closer work progress towards construction the more details are being added to the outline schedule to allow it to function in its traditional way as management and delay analyses tool

My question is when Client should expect EPC Contractor to complete building u

Any suggetion for a rookie to set out the PM career

M
Ming Cheng 👤 Member for 15 years 7 months

Hi Everyone

As a rookie in the field of project management in the construction industry, I feel quite lost in finding the route to manage mega size of information and quite afraid of making any mistake in proceeding my role as an assistant to PM, I suppose this may be the matter of sequence control, time control and management art.

Can anyone there show me roughly how you performed or behaved from the time you just stepped in this field?

In practice, books can not help any more even though I am not a  bookworm.

P.S: Now I am working in a contruction

NEC Option B Contract

R
rayhan khan 👤 Member for 15 years 7 months

Hi Everyone,

I've just had job come up involving building some flats, the problem I have come accross is that during earthworks we found a underground bunkers, due to us not knowing this and the project manager not informing me. The client is now refusing to pay for the removal of the bunkers.

The job was priced uup under NEC3 Option B, does anyone know what I can do about this, I dont think that I should pay the expense of removing them as it will cost me more than the jobs worth, any advise would be greatley appreciated.

Thanks
